For disaster recovery, prompt restoration of the optical fiber network to accommodate data traffic is essential.
Many disaster recovery scenarios and recently been investigated. Here, we report the results of a trial product of a portable EDFA using a transient-suppression technique to utilize surviving fiber links and exchanges and to bypass destroyed nodes to enable basic operation of optical fiber networks.
We believe that the Portable EDFA will be a powerful tool for the short-term recovery of optical fiber links in remote-areas. |
