Over 80 dB Uplink Loss Budget of GE-PON System Using 3-cascaded 1.3 μm SOAs

(in English) We investigate the uplink loss budget of a long-reach GE-PON system employing 3-cascaded SOAs for 1.3 μm-band. In the experiment, commercially available OLT, and ONUs with different extinction ratios were used. For all the value of attenuation between the SOAs and all the extinction ratio of each ONU, the system loss budgets over 80 dB have been experimentally demonstrated.
