We are investigating edge cloud architecture for effective use of service edge resources. The edge cloud architecture dynamically allocates virtualized edge functions to hardware and users to virtualized edge functions. Dynamic allocation makes it easy to take over the function between the service edge machines. Service edge resources exhibit a much smaller load of standby machines than that of current machines. This allows several current machines to share a standby machine and can reduce the number of standby machines. We discuss the minimum number of standby machines required to keep the same reliability as a triplex system. |
