[Invited Talk] Weighted fairness in access networks with layer-2 routing protocols

(in English) Layer-2 routing protocols are expected to be employed for access networks. In many cases, traffic paths overlap on specific links in an arbitrary topology and unfairness occurs. Weighted throughput fairness for all subscribers cannot be realized and under utilization of links occurs with weighted N rate N+1 color marking (WNRN+1CM), because various frames that have different traffic paths and destinations coexist. This paper proposes a method for judging whether under utilization of links occurs by estimating congestion state and subscriber throughput at each link. With the proposed method, network operators can realize weighted fairness with WNRN+1CM, without under utilization of links.
