JAXA has been studying super low altitude satellite. The altitude of this satellite is about 200-300km. A satellite in a super low altitude enables higher resolution optical Earth observation and lower electric power active sensing using a SAR or a LIDAR than those in conventional low earth orbits. In this paper, practical Earth observation missions, which are suitable for super low altitude earth orbit, are proposed and future plan of super low altitude satellite is introduced. |
