This paper compares our previously reported two inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) methods based on frequency block-dependent transmission power control (TPC) in non-orthogonal access with successive interference canceller (SIC) in the cellular uplink. First TPC uses different target signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and decay factor in fractional TPC among frequency blocks, which are coordinated among neighbor cells. Second TPC uses TPC based on inter-cell interference power in addition to the conventional received signal power-based fractional TPC, where the allowable inter-cell interference power among multiple frequency blocks within the system bandwidth are coordinated among neighbor cells. From the computer simulation, we show that the ICIC using either of two our previously reported TPC methods can enhance the system-level throughput compared to the conventional universal frequency reuse (UFR) without ICIC and fractional frequency reuse (FFR) since the degradation in multiuser diversity and non-orthogonal user multiplexing effect is alleviated with the proposed ICIC compared to the conventional FFR which achieving similar ICIC effect. Among two proposed TPC methods, the TPC using inter-cell interference power control achieves best throughput performance. |
