Performance of Star 16/64QAM Schemes Using Turbo FDE with Iterative Decision-Directed Channel Estimation for DFT-Precoded OFDMA

(in English) This paper presents average block error rate (BLER) performance of star 16/64QAM schemes using turbo frequency domain equalizer (FDE) with iterative decision-directed channel estimation (IDDCE) for discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-precoded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA). Turbo FDE comprises feed-forward FDE based on Minimum Mean-Square Error (MMSE) criterion and decision-feedback FDE using the extrinsic log-likelihood ratio (LLR) at the Max-Log-MAP decoder output. By computer simulation evaluations, we clarify the best ring ratio of the star 16/64QAM schemes using turbo FDE from the viewpoint of the required average received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) considering cubic metric (CM) satisfying the average BLER of 10-2. We also compare the average BLER performance levels of the star 16/64QAM schemes with those for square 16/64QAM schemes when the turbo FDE with the IDDCE is used.
