Improvement on Stopband Property of Compact Waveguide Filters with Multiple Transmission Zeros Using Hybrid Resonance of Cutoff Waveguide and Planar Resonator

(in English) The waveguide bandpass filter using planar resonators can generate multiple transmission zeros at stopbands without using any cross coupling structures. However, there is a problem that bandwidth of upper stopband is narrow owing to spurious resonances of the planar resonators. To improve the stopband property, this paper proposes a compact cutoff waveguide filter introducing a new resonance mechanism. The proposed waveguide filter is simply constructed by successive arrangement of planar resonators in a cutoff waveguide, but the suppression of spurious resonances as well as the generation of multiple transmission zeros can be realized by the combination of planar anti-resonant circuits and inductive elements of cutoff waveguides. Furthermore, a high attenuation characteristic at the stopbands can be easily achieved by the cutoff behavior of the waveguide. As an example, we have designed two cutoff waveguide filters at the X band, proving the effectiveness of the proposed waveguide filter.
