Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this report, we investigate the practicality of using the Kinect motion sensing camera, originally produced for gaming, as an inexpensive and accurate 3D facial recognition device. We simplified the process by utilizing the frontal face depth data. In this system, we define the frontal face area as any area within a deviation angle of less than ±2°. First, the conformity of the data from two facial depth masks is estimated by the mean distance. The mean distance between the two face masks is then corrected by using the approximate plane made from the deviation. We compared all possible combinations of a set of 100 images compiled by taking 5 images each from 20 students and describe the results.
