A study of the autonomic nervous response under stress conditions
Kazuhiro Ikeda, Tohru Kiryu (Niigata Univ.) MBE2013-10
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Under stressful image, a symptom called Visually Induced Motion Sickness (VIMS) like the motion sickness is a concern. In the evaluation of VIMS, there are objective evaluation that focuses on changes in the autonomic nervous system activity and subjective evaluation with a questionnaire. With a short-time-scale objective indices based subjective evaluation, more accurate prediction of VIMS could be expected. In this study, we estimate the subjective VIMS by measuring the objective biological signals, performing a multiple regression model. The result showed that in the subjects under VIMS the cardiovascular-related indices have a potential for identifying the time-varying behavior of discomfort level rather explicitly.
