Network node role estimation using monitored traffic

(in English) Nowadays, effective communication networks are desired even in the situation where no fixed infrastructure is available, for example, in case of disaster or emergency. In these cases, the available communication resources, such as bandwidth, equipment are scarce and the available resources should be used efficiently. For effective network resource management, it is important to know the current network situation, although all the network nodes may not be corporative. For that purpose, we decided to use control signals extracted from monitored communication traffic. The network control signals are shared among multiple terminals in order to construct and maintain the adaptive mobile radio networks. The network control signals include, route establishment& maintenance, link aliveness verification, control packet flooding decrease effort and so on. By monitoring the control signal traffic, some of the network node roles are estimated. In this paper, we propose a scheme to estimate network node role by analyzing the monitored network control traffic, according to the network protocol specifications.
