In this paper, we compared the offered and required functions of the existing simulators, the ONE simulator and Scenargie, for DTN (Delay/Disruption Tolerant Network) simulations. We have clarified the advantages and disadvantages of each simulator at three simulation processes which are 1) scenario creation, 2) simulation, and 3) analysis and visualization of simulation results. The ONE simulator provides various routing protocols for DTN. That is good for comparison with the existing DTN rouging algorithms. However, since the ONE makes wireless communication system model abstract, it may result in the incorrectness of simulation results. Therefore, it is better to use the ONE with more realistic wireless network model or supplemental network simulator. On the other hand, Scenargie provides user-friendly scenario creation, results analysis, and visualization capabilities through GUI. However, Scenargie offers limited routing protocols for DTN. If Scenargie provides the existing routing protocols for DTN, it will contribute to make more effective and sophisticated simulation study for DTN. |
