Electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) has high power density, long lifetime, quick charge/discharge time, and environmental friendliness. This paper presents a new high efficiency DC-DC converter for EDLC. The bi-directional two-stage converter combined with coupling capacitor and coupled inductor (CCCI) is used in order to obtain high power efficiency at a large voltage conversion ratio. Static characteristics of the proposed converter are analyzed and confirmed by experiments. As a result it is clarified that the power efficiency of the CCCI is higher than that of the single-stage converter in the bus voltage of 12V. |
