A Study of Data Transmission for Wireless Power Transfer with Coil Displacements

(in English) The efficiency of magnetic resonance wireless power transfer (MRWPT) is dependent on the distance between coils. In order to transfer electrical power efficiently, information, such as frequency characteristics of the circuit, the strength of the power, or the values of the circuit elements need to be transmitted reliably in the system. In the assumed system, the coils are used as transmitting and receiving antennas for data communication to control the range of power transfer or improve power transfer efficiency. This paper investigates the relationship between the relative antenna positions and the data transmission characteristics in the MRWPT system. The coupling coefficient is derived theoretically with respect to the relative antenna positions. The equivalent circuit with calculated coupling coefficients is then designed, which is modeled as a band pass filter (BPF). Its frequency characteristics are derived through circuit simulations and the resulting data transmission characteristics are investigated. Numerical results obtained through computer simulation show that the bit error rate (BER) performance can be improved by controlling the center frequency of the transmit signal.
