We propose the concept of short-range wireless identification where communication area radius is about 50 cm centered on reader/writer. For realizing secure wireless identification systems, the technology to form clearly defined communication areas is required. Our study is focused on localizing magnetoquasistatic fields generated from multiple current loops to form the clearly defined areas. The magnetic-field distribution created by the loops approximately obeys Biot-Savart law. The calculation model can easily be described with widely used programming languages, such as Mathematica. Therefore, it is possible to calculate the field distribution without relying on commercial simulators. In this paper, we present the concept of the short-range wireless identification, principle of magnetic-field localization, mathematical formulation of Biot-Savart law, and experimental demonstration with single and double current loops we fabricated. |
