In this work, we focus our interests on terahertz metallic photonic crystals for telecommunications applications. For these and other uses,high-performance and compact electromagnetic wave components for manipulation of terahertz signals are required. One promising candidate is photonic crystals. In order to design metallic (Drude-model) PhC electromagnetic-wave circuits, the dispersion relations of photonic bandgap are firstly calculated by using the plane wave expansion method. Secondly, the eigen-frequencies and mode fields of a point defect microcavity generating localized states in the bandgap are calculated by a supercell method. Finally, the proposed dual-mode bandpass filter is numerically studied by full-wave time-domain method and its design is based on the Foster-type equivalent circuit used in the microwave region. |
