An Error Correction Technique for XOR Physical Layer Network Coding
Satoshi Denno, Mio Maekawa (Okayama Univ.), Daisuke Umehara (Kyoto Inst. of Tech.) SRW2013-10
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Physical layer network coding is well-known to improve frequency utilization efficiency in bi-directional wireless communication via a relay. This report proposes a novel error correction technique not only to improve transmission performance but also to reduce complexity at the relay. The proposed technique applies a unitary precoding to offset phase rotation of a channel gain by exploiting the reciprocity between channels in an uplink and a downlink in systems with time division duplex (TDD). The paper proposes a new maximum likelihood sequence estimation making use of the fact that the received signal can be regarded as a quasi-XOR coded signal by the channel.
