We designed and fabricated microwave kinetic inductance detectors (MKIDs) using niobium nitride (NbN) symmetric spiral resonator array. The total length of resonator was adjusted to the effective guided half-wavelength for each resonator keeping the symmetric structure. We conducted simulations for 9-arrays assuming an NbN as the superconducting material and sapphire as the dielectric substrate and obtained maximum attenuation of over 30 dB and unloaded quality factors of over 2$\times$10^5. We fabricated 9-arrays MKIDs using the NbN thin film deposited on the m-sapphire substrate by using dc magnetron sputtering. The microwave response passing through MKIDs and a low-noise amplifier was measured using a vector network analyzer. We observed 9 half-wavelength resonances around 4.7 GHz. |
