A Study on Iterative Decoding with Virtual Differential Codec and Sparse Pilot
Shinsuke Ibi, Seiichi Sampei (Osaka Univ.) RCS2013-1
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper proposes virtual differentially coded system without differential encoder at the transmitter and channel estimates at the receiver. Without the assistance of differential encoder, differential decoder detects a linearly multiplexed symbol which is constituted by two symbols in different time. In the virtual differentially coded system, the multiplexed symbol is regarded as a virtual symbol. In order to resolve the virtual symbol into two original symbols, extrinsic log likelihood ratio (LLR), which is fed back from channel decoder, is exploited with the aid of iterative decoding. For the sake of improving convergence property of the iterative decoding, sparse pilot symbols are doped in a stream of transmitted symbols.
