The mammalian ear is divided into the outer ear receiving a sound wave, the middle ear amplifying a sound wave and the inner ear processing a signal of the sound wave. In the inner ear, firstly, the basilar membrane vibrates in response to a sound wave, secondly, the inner hair cells transform the mechanical vibration into an electrical potential, and thirdly, the spiral ganglion cells transform the electrical potential into a spike train. The cochlear of the inner ear has the nonlinearities such as adaptation characteristics between the inner hair cells and the spiral ganglion cells. In this paper, We propose a spiral ganglion cell model using an asynchronous cellular automaton. We show that the model can reproduce a modulation of an input spike train and can have the adaptation characteristics in response to an input wave by numerical simulation. In addition, in a steady state, we show how to adjust the firing rate by its parameters.
