Synchronization of nonlinear oscillators driven by common environmental noise

(in English) Engineering applications of noise-induced synchronization have been widely discussed recently. Among them, possibilities of utilizing real-world environmental noise for synchronization of electronic devices, e.g., wireless sensor networks, have been actively studied. Because real-world environmental noise signals can never be identical with each other but inevitably contain individual uncorrelated fluctuations, it is necessary to enhance correlations among such noise signals. In this report, we propose a method to enhance noise correlations for noise-induced synchronization by thresholding environmental noise with a threshold filter. We clarify statistical properties of environmental noise for which the proposed filter yields higher correlations than the original signals, and propose a method to determine an optimal threshold value.
