Psychological Resource Allocation in Time-related Dual Task
Takuya Kotani, Ryoko Futami (Fukushima Univ.) MBE2012-128
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of processing concurrent two tasks on accuracy of generating one second, and to obtain the knowledge of the psychological resource allocation in time-related dual task condition. There were two tasks for participants. One was to press the button quickly to the sensory stimulus (speed task), and the other was to press button after one second from the start of the sensory stimulus presentation (timing task). In the experiment 1, participants performed a task (i.e. speed task or timing task) in the single task condition, and two tasks in the dual task condition. As a result, the accuracy of the generated time to the second stimulus reduced when participants were asked to perform timing task to both stimuli. And the result of temporal order judgment when participants performed timing task to both stimuli was lower than the one when participants performed speed task to both stimuli. In the experiment 2, participants were asked to perform speed task or timing task to both stimuli in the dual task condition with added Go/No-go paradigm. The result is that the accuracy of the generated time to the second stimulus reduced when participants were asked to perform timing task to both stimuli, limited to participants with low accuracy of generating one second to first stimulus. And it showed that addition of Go/No-go paradigm did not influence temporal order judgment.
