Development of Multi-Touch Interaction Techniques for Effectively Understanding 3-Dimensional Heart Structure

(in English) It is important for medical doctors or patients of heart disease to understand the 3-dimensional heart structure, but the structure is complicated and it is nontrivial to understand it appropriately. Therefore, we developed new multi-touch interaction techniques for effectively understanding the 3-dimensional heart structure, and implement a prototype system. In our system, a 3-dimensional model of a heart is constantly simulated as an elastic object. Users can deform a part of the heart model by pulling through multi-touch interaction. We believe that our system can be useful as an educational tool or an explanatory tool.
