A study on Finger Print Verification based on complex Linear Prediction

(in English) In the ubiquitous information society, biometrics authentication attracts a large amount of attention and fingerprint verification is commonly used due to its convenience. The fingerprint verification based on Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) has been proposed, in which one line of data among X-axis or Y-axis is analyzed by LPC and the identification is realized by a DP matching based on the spectral distance. Fingerprint image provides a blank as a background. The blank provides no meaning for the identification. The segmentation method cannot only reduce the storage size, but also makes it possible to no search for start and end point on DP matching. On the other hand, complex LPC analysis for analytic signal has been proposed and it can estimate more accurate spectrum in low frequencies due to the nature of analytic signal. In this study, we propose finger print verification based on the DP matching using complex LPC analysis. The experimental results using the segmented data show that the complex LPC can perform better than LPC method.
