Design of New Organic Semiconducting Molecules and Their Application to Organic Field-effect Transistors

(in English) Furan-fused heteroacenes, dibenzo[d,d']benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']difurans (DBBDFs) were designed as a new family of organic semiconducting molecules. Organic field-effect transistors with monoalkyl DBBDF demonstrate a relatively high charge carrier mobility of ~0.2 cm2/Vs. Control of molecular arrangement was also achieved by introducing appropriate substituents. In particular, DBBDFs with two linear alkyl chains were found to be liquid crystalline materials, and charge carrier mobility was improved via molecular arrangement in liquid crystalline phase.
