TCP Throughput Prediction of Mobile Computing for Dynamic Resource Offloading -- Case Analysis of Mitaka Station --

(in English) The rapid development of cloud computing, wireless network and mobile devices allow users to access server resources any-time and any-where. Our research team has designed a mobile computing architecture, which dynamically optimizes computing resources between a mobile device and a server. This architecture offloads heavy tasks of a native mobile application to the cloud for performance enhancement. Offloading decisions are based on various conditions, including computing capability, communication cost and power consumption. This research proposal focuses on measuring communication cost by predicting the wireless network conditions in real time. Existing approaches to such prediction suffer from considering the possibility of alteration of network congestion from moment to moment. Our approach aims to extend existing researches by predicting fluctuant TCP throughput of mobile devices using machine learning techniques.
