Peak Power Reduction of Trellis Shaped OFDM Signals by Selection Region Expansion

(in English) An orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system is known to have high bandwidth effi- ciency, but its power conversion efficiency at power amplifier (PA) is considerably low because of its high peak-to-av- erage power ratio (PAPR) nature of transmit signals. Trellis shaping (TS) is an effective method to reduce PAPR and its reduction capability depends on the number of constellation regions that are selectable by the shaping bits. In this paper, by increasing the number of such regions, we attempt to improve the PAPR reduction capability of trellis-shaped OFDM systems.
