A Report of Performance per Power Consumption of ARM Based Servers

(in English) This paper reports results of evaluation about ARM based servers' performance and power efficiency to clarify energy- and cost-efficiency of the servers. We have evaluated the server by comparing with x86-64 virtualized server from a performance per power consumption viewpoint. We monitor processing performance and power consumption while we evaluate it using a benchmark script. In addition, we develop L7 load balancer on the ARM based server and measure its limitation of frequency of requests. We conclude that ARM based servers are better energy-efficient than the x86-64 virtualized one however the ARM based one is worth processing performance at present. And, we corroborate that the servers can replace existing L7 load balancers if balanced applications are requested not so frequently.
