| 抄録 | （和） | ここ30年余りの間の携帯電話（自動車電話）の進展はすさまじい。予想をはるかに超える発展を見せてきた。加えて、携帯電話に触発され、WiFi（無線LAN）ほか様々な近距離無線技術が導入され、両者が相まって情報化社会の変革・進展を加速してきた。その技術的展開を振り返ると、極めて興味深い数々のブレークスルーがあった。また、結果として、携帯電話の加入者数が全世界で60億加入（世界人口は70億人）を超えたことは驚異的ですらある。さらにはその幾倍ものデバイスや物にも無線通信機能が搭載されようとしている。無線通信の研究に従事してきた者の一人として感慨深い。ただ、無線の発展はこれで終わりではない。まさにこれからは無線が仲立ちをして様々な分野そして技術の融合が進展し、新たな利活用や新産業が生まれてくることが大いに期待されている。私たちもそのことを認識したうえで、無線技術者自身がイニシアティブを取って、無線通信技術の更なる発展、そしてそれによる社会の変革、安全安心快適な社会の実現をめざして行動すべきではなかろうか。 |
| （英） | Progress of cellular phone systems has been remarkable during the last three decades. It is far beyond our expectations. In addition, inspired by the cellular phone, various near or short-range wireless communication systems as exemplified by WiFi (Wireless LAN) have been introduced. These wireless systems have accelerated the progress of the information society. When we take a retrospective glance of the past technical progress, we notice that there occurred so many interesting breakthroughs. It is truly remarkable to find the fact that the number of cellular phone subscriber exceeds 6 billion out of 7 billion world populations. Now, many things or devices far exceeding the world populations are going to be connected to the Internet by wireless technology. It is really exciting to observe this technical trend as one of the engineers engaged in the study of wireless communications for a long time. However, this is not the ultimate goal of wireless communications. Wireless technologies are believed to have a much big potential to connect or merge various different fields, resulting in further novel applications and further development of various industries. We, wireless engineers, should be more active than ever to take a look at outer fields and to take initiatives to change or revolutionize the society to make it better, contributing to the realization of the safe, secure and sustainable global society. | |
