SDR-Based Implementation of Multi-User MIMO Experimental System

(in English) This paper presents the implementation of the experimental system for multi-user MIMO downlink transmission in distributed antenna systems. Modular signal generators and signal analyzers are used as the base station (BS) and USRP is used as a mobile station (MS). Both BS and MS employ software-defined baseband signal processing. Four BS antennas and six MSs with single antenna each are available. An amplify-and-forward-based channel estimation scheme is employed, which is modified in order to support more MSs than the number of BS antennas. User selection is performed using a low-complexity scheme based on the orthogonality among the channel matrices. Transmission experiments are conducted in an anechoic chamber with reflective plates.
It is shown that user selection based on channel state information considerably improves the received power and the BER performance under a constant transmit power constraint.
