In order to set up creative workshops, the transactional constraint method (TCM) is proposed. The TCM constrains communication styles of participants as followings. In the first half of the session, the participants are allowed only to ask the problem presentator on the proposed issues. This corresponds to convergent group thinking. In the next step of last half, the participants are required to freely discuss the solutions of the proposed issues. This corresponds to divergent group thinking. The sequence of convergent and divergent group thinking is exactly the opposite of usual creative method in which the sequence is divergent and convergent. The effectiveness measurement method is also proposed to estimate and interpret the results of TCM workshops over 20 times for working people focusing largely on the emotions of the problem presentator. This method is based on the hypothesis that the satisfaction levels of the presentator and of participants are associated with the change of emotions of the presentator between the first and last half of the session. In order to verify the hypothesis, reversal theory of motivation proposed by Apter is adopted, and a discourse analysis of the presentator is made with use of PAC model of transactional analysis in psychology. And it is shown that the largest correlation (r=0.69) is given between the satisfaction level of participants and emotion change of the presentator. This may suggest that the emotional change of the presentator affects the satisfaction level of participants. |
