Ecology observations for Streaked Shearwaters have been performed in Awashima island. In the previous study, we have performed a substantiative experiment of a wired LAN network with infrared sensors for ecology observation and we have obtained ecologically useful information. However, we could not verify a hypothesis of ecologists that male parents take long trips more than female parents because infrared sensor cannot distinguish between male parent and female parent. Additionally, the wired LAN network is not scalable. Therefore, in this study, we have developed a scalable ZigBee network for ecology observations, which can distinguish between male and female parent by using RFID. In addition, as a result of ecology observations in order to obtain information related with the hypothesis we could estimate influence of sea temperature on returning patterns of seabirds. |
