Performance Evaluation Considering Cost of Multi-cell Cooperative HetNet

(in English) One of the issues of the next generation cellular systems is improvement of cell-edge throughput performance.
Recently, in order to improve the cell-edge throughput performance and to extend the coverage area, a
relaying transmission using relay stations is becoming a promising technique. The cell-edge throughput performance
degrades, because the signal from the base station is weak due to the large path-loss. By using relay transmission,
cell-edge throughput is improved because of reducing the path-loss. The relay station(RS) and the pico base station(
pBS) mitigates the cost relative to the base station because of its simple structure. However, a large number of
RS and pBS increases the total cost. Thus, the performance evaluation considering relay station cost is important in
terms of whether we introduce RS or pBS to cellular systems or not. In this paper, we propose a simple evaluation
model considering cost to assess the total performance considering cost of multi-cell cooperative multi-hop HetNet
systems.
