In this study, we reveal some properties of Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), which is one of the major causes of linear signal distortion in optical fiber communications. Based on the analysis, we derive average
SNR at the output of frequency domain equalization of the optical OFDM transmission systems in the presence of both PMD and Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL). Computer simulations are conducted to demonstrate the validity of the analytical results. |
