Tomography of abdominal conductivity using multiple current patterns

(in English) A measuring device for the abdominal fat from the conductivity image derived by electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is rarely found. We have developed a device to estimate body fat from the bio-impedance between two specified points. In the EIT system, it is not established how to select the two probing current electrodes from many electrodes surrounding the object. In this study, we employed multiple patterns of the probing current i.e., multiple intervals of probing current electrodes. In the experiment, a number of 1024 data was taken from one specified current pattern, following that, another 1024 data was also taken using a different current pattern. Then, an image reconstruction was made from those entire data. As a result, the conductivity image was clearly improved when compared with the image obtained from the single current pattern. This method may not be practical due to a long measuring time in the present form of the device. It was suggested that the method using multiple current patterns would be effective, if the measuring time is much reduced through a future modification of the tomography device.
