| (in English) | The Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) has been implemented in Japanese domestic airspace since September 2005. Safety assessment is continuously carried out according to the duties of safety monitoring. The estimated value of lateral overlap probability based on the data for one year from August 2001 has been employed to estimate the collision risk used for safety assessment from the beginning. Though the value estimated from the data of the route where high-performance flight is expected, a route where the estimated value of lateral overlap probability is five times larger than the conventional value was recently found. When the larger value is used as a substitute for the conventional value, the result can’t meet the target level of safety due to overestimating. Therefore, a method for calculating collision risk using the lateral overlap probability estimated for each route is devised. Then the collision risk based on the data of December 2011 is estimated. As a result, obtained knowledge is as follows. 1. Twenty three values of lateral overlap probability estimated for each route are obtained. There is a nineteen-fold difference in them at most. 2. An estimate by the proposed method is five percent larger than that by the method using the conventional lateral overlap probability value. |
