| (in English) | This paper presents a computer-aided system for comparative CT image reading of liver cancers. The input is a pair of two abdominal CT images taken from the same patient at different time. The system consists of two parts; image registration and visualization for comparative reading. In the first part, liver regions are registered by using several pairs of corresponding major branching points in liver vessel regions. In the second one, liver tumors are visualized for evaluation of their temporal changes on the registered images. In experiments, the performance of the registration procedure was evaluated using 148 pairs of abdominal CT images obtained from 6 patients. An influence of the preciseness of extracted liver vessel regions upon the final registration result was also investigated. Finally it was shown that using practical liver cancer cases, their temporal changes could be observed more correctly through registration. | |
