| (in English) | A point distribution model (PDM) is widely employed for representing surfaces of organs. In many registration methods of PDMs, the local appearance around each point is represented in the models, but the appearance between each pair of two neighboring points is not represented. This is one of the main factors that make large registration errors. In this article, the authors propose a PDM registration method, in which the appearances between two points are referred to for measuring the continuity of edges in the images. The edge continuities can be measured by appropriately designing the likelihood functions of point locations, and an approximation method is proposed for computing such the likelihoods. Experimental results of the registration of a liver showed that the proposed method improved the registration performance. | |
