Multimodal Image Registration Using Improved Normalized Mutual Information
Ayako Kobayashi, Hiroyuki Kudo, Taizo Suzuki (Univ. of Tsukuba) MI2012-96
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Medical image registration technique is necessary. Behind this we can digitize images from kind of modalities at medical front. Image registration can be difficult when we select MRI(which has anatomic information) and PET/SPECT(which has functional information) to the target images. In this case, registration using mutual information is so popular. However, the method is not good if the SPECT image is extremely different from the MRI because of perfusion defect. To solve this problem, we propose a new method using location information of intensities in addition to mutual information and show effectiveness by experiments.
