Numerical Analysis of Area Coverage Modulation in Multi-domain Aligned Liquid Crystal Device

(in English) Properties of area coverage modulation have been studied in multi-domain aligned liquid crystal cell which show white and black display between two polarizers. LC director distributions of 90°twisted nematic(TN) / homogeneous aligned cell and +45°TN / -45°TN aligned cell were numerically estimated around white and black pixel boundary, respectively. A transmittance in one pixel is also calculated in different conditions of pixel size and anchoring strength. The multi-domain aligned LC cell with pixel size of over 50$\mu$m shows the linear property of area coverage modulation when the anchoring strength is more than 10_-5N/m.
