Representation ability of statistical shape model for non-rigid ICP

(in English) The non-rigid ICP (NICP) registers a surface model to a given target
by minimizing the square of the residuals with the stiffness
regularization. This regularization can be derived from a Gaussian
shape model. The authors of this article changed the Gaussian shape
model to the statistical shape model (SSM) constructed from a set of
training samples in order to make the NICP robust and to improve the
accuracy of the registration. In this article, the authors
quantitatively evaluated the generalization ability and the specificity,
and of the Gaussian shape model and of the SSM. The
results of the evaluation showed that the difference of the models was
not so large and that the coefficient of the regularization term in
the cost function played an important role.
