Regulations of dendritic membrane potential dynamics by excitatory and inhibitory synaptic inputs on hippocampal CA1 area -- Optical measurement using voltage-sensitive dye --

(in English) Hippocampal CA1 area networks have complex inhibitory circuits, which play a crucial role in information processing. Additionally, the spatial distribution of inhibitory inputs is not uniform among CA1 dendrites. In fact, the summation of inhibitory and excitatory components is important in nonlinear membrane events.
To identify the relation between excitatory and inhibitory components on the neural membrane along the somato–dendritic axis, we analyzed of the dynamics of dendritic-layer-specific feedforward (FF) and feedback (FB) inhibitory components using optical imaging with voltage-sensitive dye. Results revealed the spatial spread and temporal change of the membrane potential, and suggested that membrane responses might be regulated by FF and FB inhibition.
