In Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Networks (EHWSNs) which are powered by ambient energy sources such as solar and vibration, sensor nodes can achieve long term operation. However, there is a problem due to the transmission of redundant packets since the packet loss cannot be detected due to the unstable power supply.
In this paper, we propose a data collection scheme which can achieve high packet delivery ratio and low delay after the detection of abnormal data at a sink by using battery-powered sensor nodes that can detect the packet loss.In our proposed scheme, the battery-powered nodes make it possible to retransmit the packets and decrease the loss of chance for transmission by transmitting the redundant packets due to detection of the packet loss by overhearing the packets transmitted by the node which is powered by energy harvesting. Moreover, in abnormal state, it make sure to achieve high delivery ratio and low delay by retransmitting the packet using battery-powered node.
The simulation results show that our proposed scheme can improve the performance in the packet delivery ratio and the packet delay compared to the conventional scheme. |
