Most rate adaptation schemes for IEEE802.11 such as ARF and AMARF decide to increase the data rate when the count-based success threshold of sequential frames is successfully transmitted. Unfortunately, ARF and AMARF do not work well if the terminals are not greedy to send messages and if the message length is variable. We have proposed an RA scheme, which we call MARFFE (Multi-rate Auto Rate Fallback with average Fade region duration Estimation); it uses time-based success thresholds instead of the count-based one. In this manuscript, we improve MARFFE to promptly adapt changing environment, and evaluate MARFEE, AMARF, and ARF to confirm the effectiveness of MARFFE. |
