Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have been recognized to show superior display properties than other display modes such as liquid crystal displays. Various research works on this topic have been conducted aiming at the applications to flexible displays, flat illumination sources, and so on. Top-emitting organic light-emitting diodes have a large aperture ratio, but transparent conductive films such as ITO have to be prepared on the organic films by a sputtering method which would severely damage organic films. This damage to organic films causes a decrease in emission efficiency and a increase in operating voltage of the device. In this study, we use a biased sputtering method for depositing transparent conductive films on Alq3 layer, and evaluated the sputtering damage from the viewpoint of the light emission efficiency of organic films. |
