An Efficient Video Content Delivery Considering Visual Psychology Effects and Motion Information in a Scene

(in English) This study proposes an efficient video content delivery technique using psychological effects of visual perception. Concretely, scene changes in a video content are automatically detected, and then the appropriate color depth and frame rate values are assigned to each scene for the purpose of the data reduction. This alleviates the transmission bit rate of the content without reducing the user satisfaction. The scene changes are detected by simply calculating the average image density in a deference frame between adjacent two frames. Therefore, it is possible to easily perform a transcoding for the content at an intermediate network node. In this paper, the effectiveness of the proposed technique will be discussed through subjective evaluation experiments.
