Improving the reliability of vehicle's position announcement by cyclic transmission power control in vehicular networks

(in English) In the driving safety support systems using direct vehicle-to-vehicle communication, it is important for vehicles to exchange periodic beacon packets to recognize condition of other vehicles.
Especially, it is necessary to recognize frequently the correct position of neighboring vehicles which have a high risk of collisions.
However, communication environment is not stable for change of vehicle's positions.
In particular, it is difficult to exchange beacon packets with with using IEEE802.11p which utilizes CSMA/CA MAC because of interference between vehicles frequently occurs when the vehicle density is high or the beacon size is big.
In this paper, we propose a beacon transmission power control scheme in which vehicles broadcast beacons periodically changing the transmission power at every transmission timing.
This scheme is expected to reduce the interference and increase packet reception ratio especially between neighboring vehicles which have a high risk of collisions.
Simulation result show that this scheme reduces the degradation of the beacon reception ratio in severe communication conditions especially when the distance between the sender and the receiver 50--100m.
