Call admission control is to maintain QoS (Quality of Service) of existing calls and ensure QoS for a new incoming call. Active call admissions controls use probe packets to estimate the availability of network resource to admit the new incoming call. Probe packets may degrade QoS of existing calls.
This paper proposes a new call admission control for wireless mesh networks by using available bandwidth of links which are estimated by our proposed method using network allocation vector (NAV). Simulations show that the proposed method has lower packet loss rate and call blocking rate than the existing active call admission control |
