Investigation on Average BLER Performance of 64APSK Schemes Using Frequency Domain Equalizer for DFT-Precoded OFDMA

(in English) This paper investigates the average block error rate (BLER) performance of 64APSK (Amplitude and Phase Shift Keying) schemes employing a frequency domain equalizer (FDE) by link-level simulation for discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-precoded orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA). The 64APSK scheme decreases peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) compared to Square 64QAM scheme. Hence, we investigate the actual received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) taking into account a realistic PAPR measure called the cubic metric (CM) to achieve the requirement of adjacent channel leakage power ratio (ACLR) due to the non-linearity of the power amplifier. Link-level computer simulation results show that the 64APSK scheme with independent bit mapping for the phase and amplitude modulations achieves a lower required average received SNR considering the CM compared to that with the maximum Euclidian distance in inner ring but with composite mapping of the phase and amplitude modulations. We also show that the (16, 16, 16, 16) 64APSK decreases the required average received SNR considering the CM at the average BLER of 10-2 - 10-3 by greater than 0.3 dB compared to that for Square 64QAM scheme.
