This paper treats a parallel-ring-type rat-race circuit for loose coupling utilizing composite right-/left-handed transmission lines(CRLH-TLs). For conventional rat-race circuits maximum of unbalanced power ratio from two output ports is limited by characteristic impedance of one pair of ring-lines that can be manufactured. We have already proposed a parallel-ring-type rat-race circuit for loose coupling utilizing only RH-TLs and realized the rat-race circuit with a large unbalance power ratio. In this research, the proposed parallel-ring-type rat-race circuit utilizing CRLH-TLs can achieve broadband characteristics and compact circuit size with a coupling factor of -20dB. Furthermore, the validity of this design procedure has been demonstrated by em-simulations and experiments at 4GHz band. |
